Our family’s story is a long one, full
of love and passion for the vineyard…
In the early 1950s, grandfather Luigi, originally from the northern region of Veneto, shared his passion for wine with his son Giampaolo, who went on to study at the Scuola Enologica di Conegliano and in 1964 moved to Sardinia for his first job as a winemaker. He acquired an extraordinary amount of professional experience managing and consulting at various Sardinian wineries. During this time, he shared his father’s love for wine and the vineyards with his four children: Laura, Giusi, Luigi, and Paolo. In 1990, he bought the first hectares of vines in the area of Lake Baratz, near Alghero, which would become the winery “Podere San Costantino”. In the years that followed, the whole family was involved in the Janna de Mare (Door of the Sea) project, starting with the acquisition of 20 hectares of land between Alghero and Sassari. Giampaolo’s retirement was a turning point: he decided to create a truly family winery on the land near Alghero that he had bought in the early 1960s. He is supported by his children, especially Paolo, Laura, and Giusi. They are the third generation. The winery “Poderi Parpinello”, born in 2009, already boasts three generations of winemakers.
